Italy: Several May 12 aviation sector strikes called off /update 1

Strikes at Rome, Turin, and Bologna airports set to take place Friday, May 12; other aviation sector strikes canceled

A number of aviation sector strikes set to take place on Friday, May 12, have been called off. According to the Italian Ministry of Transportation, strikes by personnel at the following international airports are still set to go ahead (as of May 10): Rome-Fiumicino (FCO), Rome-Ciampino (CIA), Turin-Caselle (TRN), and Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ). These actions could potentially result in flight disruptions and increased wait times at check-in, baggage claim/drop-off, and security checkpoints.

Strikes by Altalita and EasyJet crews have been canceled.

Context

Transportation-related strikes are common in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all strikes.
