Italy: Some May 28 aviation sector strikes called off /update 1

May 28 nationwide air traffic controller strike canceled; strikes at Alitalia and Padua Airport still on

A national air traffic controller (ATC) strike planned for Sunday, May 28, has been called off. However, a local ATC strike is still set to take place at Padua International Airport (QPA) from 13:00 to 17:00 (local time). Furthermore, a strike by pilots and cabin crew at Alitalia is still currently scheduled to occur between 10:00 and 18:00; the airline has already canceled a number of flights in advance. Further cancelations along with flight delays are to be anticipated.

Context

Transportation-related strikes are common in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all strikes.
