Security forces were deployed to Quiad-i-Azam University in Islamabad on Saturday, May 20, after clashes broke out between two student groups. According to media reports, at least 30 students were wounded in the fighting, some by gunfire. Other students were hit with stones and clubs. Police have arrested a number of people and seized weapons from them.

It is unclear why the clashes broke out. Local media sources said that ethnic students from Sindh and Balochistan were involved in the violence.
