Honduras: Planned power cuts nationwide June 9

Event

Scheduled power outages due to maintenance work will affect much of the country on Friday, June 9. The various outages will all occur between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 (local time). Affected areas include: Distrito Central (capital region; Francisco Morazán department), Trinidad (Santa Bárbara department), Puerto Cortés, El Progresso (Yoro department), Villa San Francisco, Catacamas, Siguatepeque, Choluteca, Langue (Valle department) San Francisco (Atlántida department), and Bonito Oriental (Colón department). Planned power outages are common in Honduras and can result in traffic disruptions due to nonfunctioning traffic lights.

Individuals in the above areas are advised to be prepared for the outages (e.g. keep phones charged) and to be cautious when driving or crossing streets if traffic signals are not functioning.
