H1N1 cases and deaths continue to rise at alarming levels across Maharashtra state since the beginning of 2017. As of Wednesday, June 28, at least 260 fatalities and 1663 cases have been reported. The Pune region is facing the highest number of deaths this year with 62 deaths.
Health authorities are immunizing at least 30,000 people in the high-risk group, including pregnant women, children, elderly people, and individuals with medical conditions (e.g., diabetes).
