Nigeria: Heavy flooding near Abuja; more rain forecast

At least 11 people were reported dead due to severe flooding brought on by heavy rains in the city of Suleja, near the Nigerian capital of Abuja, on Sunday, July 9. Additionally, reports indicate that recent flood conditions have resulted in 90 houses destroyed and at least 500 people displaced.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEAN) warned those in affected areas to avoid flooded roads and stated that further heavy rains should be expected in the coming weeks, which could lead to more hazardous conditions.
