Nigeria: Youth beneficiaries of government program plan to demonstrate nationwide Dec. 2-6

Representatives of the N-Power beneficiaries have called for demonstrations across Nigeria daily 10:00-14:00 Dec. 2-6 over unpaid allowances. N-Power is a government scheme aiming to address youth unemployment. While organizers have announced plans to protest nationwide, only gathering details for Abuja have been provided, where turnout would likely be highest. Participants will gather at the National Assembly and march towards the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. Outside Abuja, potential gathering locations include the State House of Assembly buildings across the other 36 states. The level of participation is unclear; similar gatherings in late 2023 saw little participation.

An increased police presence and localized traffic disruptions are likely near any protest site and march route. Clashes with security forces are possible.
