Peru: National health sector strike launched July 4

Some 22,000 medical workers launched an indefinite national strike on Tuesday, July 4, to demand better pay. While critical services are still being offered (surgery, emergency rooms, intensive care, maternity wards), tens of thousands of scheduled appointments are being canceled. Associated protests by striking workers are also being held, notably near major regional hospitals.
