Train drivers throughout Finland will be on strike from 18:00 (local time) on Monday, August 14, through to midnight on Tuesday, August 15. All passenger and freight train services will be suspended during the period of the strike, including commuter trains in the Helsinki region. Increased congestion on roads, particularly in the capital region, are to be anticipated throughout the duration of the strike as commuters seek alternate means of transportation.
Rail services should resume as usual on Wednesday, August 16, although residual disruptions may still occur.
