Italy: Earthquake hits Ischia island August 21

According to the Italian national volcanology institute, an earthquake struck off the coast of the island of Ischia on Monday, August 21. The quake hit at approximately 20:57 (local time), at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). According to local media reports, the town of Casamicciola suffered the most damage, with several collapsed buildings reported. Unconfirmed reports also said that at least one person was killed by falling debris in the town. A number of other people have also reportedly been injured by the quake.
