The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday, August 30, that Chinese President, Xi Jinping, is to chair the ninth annual BRICS Xiamen Summit in Xiamen (Fujian Province) from September 3 to 5. The summit will be held at the International Conference and Exhibition Center and will begin at 09:00 (local time) on Sunday, September 3.

Several high profile delegates are expected to attend the summit including Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Brazilian President Michel Temer. Security will be heightened throughout the city, and associated transportation disruptions are possible. Commercial flights via Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) will also be reduced until September 5.
