Five to eight armed men carried out an attack against a police post located along the Javary River on the Brazilian border in Loreto province, on Saturday, September 30. According to the National Police, the assailants, believed to be narcotraffickers, stole weapons from the station. At least one officer was injured in the incident.

The area is known to be part of a major drug trafficking route in South America and numerous criminal groups are active in the remote area.
