On Thursday, October 6, a man was arrested at Gothenburg’s Landvetter Airport (GOT) for carrying suspicious objects in his luggage. The area was immediately cordoned off and the bomb squad deployed. Unconfirmed reports suggest the object was the explosive substance TATP, which has been used in past terrorist attacks such as the November 2015 Paris attacks and the May 2017 Manchester bombing. Due to the perceived sense of heightened threat, delays at security checkpoints as well as flight disruptions may occur.

Terrorism has become a major public concern across Europe. On August 17, two cars deliberately crashed into pedestrians in Barcelona and Cambrils killing 14 people and injuring over a 100. This was the latest attack in Europe following incidents in Paris, Istanbul, Madrid, and London.
