Myanmar: Emergency exercise held at Yangon Airport Nov. 23

Event

Yangon International Airport (YIA) held an emergency exercise that ended at 15:00 (local time) on Thursday, November 23. Airport authorities had warned that sirens and smoke may be used and advise the public to not be alarmed.

No flight disruptions were expected as the exercise took place in an unoccupied area away from the main runway.

Context

It is a requirement of the Burmese Civil Aviation Authority to periodically test airport emergency readiness.
