United States: San Diego Airport to close nightly for one year
San Diego Airport closing nightly from midnight to 05:00 for approximately one year from early November; flight diversions possible
Event
San Diego International Airport (SAN) will be closed between midnight and 05:00 (local time) every night for approximately one year. The nightly closures, to allow for work to be done on the airport’s only runway, began in early November. Airlines have adjusted schedules; no flights are scheduled to arrive or depart from the airport during this five-hour period. However, late arrivals risk being diverted to other airports in the region, such as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Ontario Airport (ONT).
Advice
Travelers are advised to be prepared for this potential disruption.
