Pipe bomb explosion at New York’s Port Authority station around 07:20 on December 11; suspected perpetrator detained, avoid area

A suspected pipe bomb exploded in an underground passageway of the Port Authority transportation hub in New York City shortly before 07:20 (local time) on Monday, December 11. The Port Authority bus terminal has been temporarily closed, along with the 42nd Street/Port Authority-Bus Terminal subway station. Emergency services are on the scene. Preliminary reports indicate the suspected attacker, who was injured in the explosion, has been detained. According to the New York Police Department, there were no other casualties.

According to the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) trains on the A, C, and E lines are bypassing the 42nd Street/Port Authority-Bus Terminal station; trains on lines 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, and W are bypassing the nearby Times Square/42nd Street station.
