Equatorial Guinea: Iberia suspends Malabo-Madrid flights
Spanish airline Iberia suspends Malabo-Madrid flights from January 22; use alternative airlines
Event
The Spanish airline Iberia has announced the suspensions of all flights operating between Madrid to Malabo effective from Monday, January 22, until further notice. The suspension is reportedly due to high airport taxes and fuel prices, as well as limited profits.
Context
Iberia has served Equatorial Guinea for approximately 50 years; however, the airline has seen a decrease in demand since Ceiba Intercontinental, Equatorial Guinea’s national airline, began to operate flights to and from Madrid in 2012.
Advice
Travelers are advised to contact the airline for further information and use alternate airlines for travel to and from Spain.
