The French meteorological authorities (Météo France) have issued orange flood alerts (the second-highest on a four-point scale) for various areas for Friday, January 5. The alerts are in effect in 13 departments in the northeast (Ardennes, Marne, Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Vosges, Haute-Marne, Haute-Saône, Territoire-de-Belfort, Doubs, Jura, Saône-et-Loire, Nièvre, Yonne) and four in the center-west (Corrèze, Lot, Dordogne, Gironde).
