A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck 69 km (42 mi) northeast of Loreto, Baja California Sur in the Gulf of California, at approximately 08:17 (local time) on Friday, January 19. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or major damages; aftershocks are possible in the coming hours.
