Lebanon: Four-hour transportation strike February 15

Event

Drivers of taxis, private buses, and trucks are planning to hold a strike nationwide on Thursday, February 15, from 07:00 to 11:00 (local time). Limited taxi services are expected and associated protests are possible.

Context

The strike has been called for by the Federation of Land Transport Unions to protest the Uber and Kareem private driver companies, a recent increase in fares, and the privatization of inspection and vehicle registration centers.

Travelers are advised use other means of transportation and to allow extra time to reach their destinations on February 15.
