China: Smog alerts in Tianjin and Beijing March 26

Tianjin municipality and Beijing raise smog alert levels from yellow to orange

Authorities in the municipality of Tianjin raised the smog alert from yellow to orange, the second-highest level, on Monday, March 26, at 14:00 (local time). Driving restrictions on heavy vehicles based on odd-even license plate numbers have been implemented, and industrial plants have been ordered to reduce emissions. Schools have been advised to suspend outdoor activities. In the capital Beijing, authorities have also issued an orange alert, forecasting heavy air pollution from Monday, March 26, to Wednesday, March 28.

China has a four-tier color alert system for air pollution, with red being the highest, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
