France: Air France strikes on March 30, April 3, and 7 /update 2

Air France staff set to strike on March 30, April 3, and 7; significant flight delays and cancelations expected

Warning

Event

Unions representing Air France pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew staff are planning to hold strikes on Friday, March 30, Tuesday, April 3, and Saturday, April 7. If the strikes go ahead, significant flight disruptions (delays and cancelations) are likely. According to Air France, with nearly one third of its pilots expected to be on strike on March 30, the airline will cancel 24 percent of flights scheduled that day, including 20 percent of its long-haul flights, 30 percent of its medium-haul flights, and 20 percent of domestic flights.

Context

Eleven unions representing Air France staff have called for the strike to demand salary increases after years of wage stagnation. A similar strike was held on March 23 and resulted in Air France canceling a quarter of its flights.

Advice

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to verify the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact the airline for more information.
