France: Rail strike in Paris region March 31-April 2

Strike to affect Paris-region RER C on March 31-April 2

Warning

Event

A strike affecting the Paris-region RER C commuter railway line is expected to take place from Saturday, March 31, through Monday, April 2. According to transportation officials, only half of all regularly-scheduled trains will run on the RER C between Paris and Versailles Château Rive Gauche, while no trains will run on the line between Paris and Saint-Quentin en Yvelines. Last minute delays and cancelations are also likely, along with overcrowding on available services. Increased traffic congestion in the Paris region is also expected, as commuters seek alternate means of transportation.

As a reminder, unions representing employees at SNCF, the French national rail operator, are set to launch a series of strikes beginning on April 2.

Advice

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to confirm train timetables and allow for additional time to reach their destinations.
