Bengaluru metro workers agree to defer indefinite strike set to begin on March 22 to mid-April

Warning

Event

Employees of the state-run Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) have agreed to defer a proposed indefinite strike, originally set to begin on Thursday, March 22, to mid-April to allow time for negotiations between the workers' union and management. These talks are set to begin on March 26. While normal services are to be expected on March 22, strike actions remain possible in the coming weeks.

BMRCL will continue to assemble emergency teams despite the deferment, whereby contract staff are trained to perform the duties of operations and maintenance staff during strikes.

Advice

Individuals present in Bengaluru city are advised to monitor developments to the situation and anticipate significant transportation disruptions if the strike does eventually go ahead.
