A US-Bangla Airlines passenger plane crashed at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on the afternoon of Monday, March 12 (local time), leaving at least 49 people dead and 22 others injured. According to local media sources, the plane crashed while attempting to land at the airport around 14:18. The airport has since reopened after temporarily closing and canceling outbound flights and diverting inbound flights to other regional airports following the crash. Lingering flight disruptions, including delays and cancelations, are expected at TIA in the coming hours.

Context

There were 71 people aboard the plane, which took off from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC). US-Bangla Airlines is a privately owned Bangladeshi airline headquartered in Dhaka.
