Nepal: Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport to remain closed 22:00-08:00 nightly until at least early April 2025 for expansion work
Tribhuvan International Airport serving Kathmandu, Nepal, to remain closed 22:00-08:00 nightly until April 2025 for airport expansion work.
Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) will remain closed from 22:00 to 08:00 nightly until at least early April 2025 to facilitate the airport's expansion. The airport's typical daily operating hours are 06:00-02:00. The upgrade work reportedly aims to construct a taxiway running parallel to the runway and expand the international and hangar aprons. The work began late on Nov. 8 and is slated to continue for about five months.
Flight operations will be suspended at the airport during the nightly closure period, which will likely result in fewer total flights operating via KTM until the expansion work is complete.
Reconfirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via KTM. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
