Singapore: Train service modified along East-West Line in April

Trains along East-West Line (Singapore) to continue to close earlier and open later on weekends in April

Informational

Event

Singapore's public transit operator SMRT has announced that all 35 rail stations along the East-West Line (EWL) will close early and open late on all weekends in April. Stations between Tuas Link and Pasir Ris and between Tanah Merah and Changi Airport will close at 23:00 (local time) every Friday and Saturday and open at 08:00 every Saturday and Sunday. Trains usually run from 05:30 until midnight. Ten replacement shuttle buses, including four express buses, will run parallel to stretches of the EWL at intervals of four to 15 minutes during the above periods.

Context

Operating hours were also reduced in December 2017 at 17 EWL stations and two North-South Line stations (Bukit Gombak and Bukit Batok). There were also full-day closures at these stations on December 10 and December 17.

Advice

Individuals present in Singapore are advised to verify timetables and alternative transport arrangements via the SMRT's website or the SMRTConnect phone app.
