Singapore: Authorities continue to suspend MRT train services between Buona Vista and Jurong East stations through at least Sept. 29 /update 2

Train services suspended between Buona Vista and Jurong East stations, Singapore, through at least Sept. 29. Plan for alternative transport.

Informational

Authorities will continue to suspend MRT train services between Buona Vista and Jurong East stations in Singapore through at least Sept. 29 to facilitate repair works following a power fault. The disruptions began Sept. 25 when a train experienced a mechanical failure while returning to the Ulu Pandan depot, causing it to derail and resulting in extensive damage to the track. Officials are providing alternative shuttle bus services between Buona Vista and Jurong East stations. Shuttle trains will also be available at 10-minute intervals between Boon Lay and Jurong East stations and Buona Vista and Queenstown stations.

Additional disruptions, including delays, are possible at other stations along the East-West Line (EWL). Increased demand for alternative transport and overcrowding on shuttle bus services are likely. Roads near the affected stations could experience heightened traffic congestion. While public transport operator SMRT aims to resume train services by Sept. 30, officials may extend the suspension if repairs take longer than expected.

Seek alternative transport if traveling through the affected stations. Allow extra time to reach destinations due to the likelihood of increased traffic congestion and demand for alternative transportation. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
