The French meteorological authorities (Météo France) have issued alerts for thunderstorms and torrential rain for the overseas departments of Martinique and Guadeloupe. An orange alert - the second-highest on a four-point scale - is in effect for all of Martinique for Tuesday, April 17, while a lower yellow alert is in effect for the Guadeloupian archipelago. Flooding and associated transportation disruptions and/or power outages are possible.
