The inauguration of the new Islamabad International Airport has been delayed to Thursday, May 3. The airport was initially set to open on April 20.
Advice
The airport will be located around 20 km (12 mi) west of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, will have two runways, and will be able to handle 9 million passengers a year. It will be the biggest airport in Pakistan for passenger and flight traffic. The new Islamabad International Airport will replace the existing Benazir Bhutto International Airport (ISB) - the second-largest airport by air traffic in Pakistan - located in the Chaklala suburb.
