Fire breaks out at the ‘Perseus for Kids’ shopping mall in Moscow April 4; at least one person killed

A fire broke out at a children’s shopping mall in Moscow on Wednesday, April 4. The fire started on the top floor of the “Perseus for Kids” mall, forcing around 600 visitors to be evacuated from the building. At least one person was killed before firefighters extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the Russian Investigative Committee has reportedly opened a criminal case into the death. Details are still emerging.

Context

The incident comes less than two weeks after a fire also broke out at a shopping center in in the city of Kemerovo (Siberia) on March 25. At least 64 people, mostly children, were killed.
