Flash floods reported due to heavy rain April 23; minor road traffic disruptions reported

Flash floods have been reported in several areas of Singapore as of Monday, April 23, due to heavy rain. Affected areas include the junction of Gilstead Road and Dunearn Road as well as Stevens Road and Balmoral Road. Further flooding on New Upper Changi Road and Chai Chee Road is also possible. Road traffic has been somewhat impacted but is expected to normalize by the end of the day.

Further heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the island in the coming days.

Singapore is currently experience an inter-monsoon period - running from late March to May - which is characterized by temperatures above 32°C (90°F) and frequent afternoon/evening thunderstorms.
