Warning

Event

The Swedish national weather agency (SMHI) has issued the highest-level flood warnings (on a three-tiered scale) for the central Gävleborg region, as of Tuesday, April 24. The area surrounding the Norrala River is especially at risk. Swedish authorities have reported that river levels are "extremely high" due to melting snow, which is expected to continue throughout the week.

Advice

Individuals present in affected regions are advised to follow any instructions issued by local authorities and monitor developments to the situation. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
