Authorities suspend all rail traffic north of Stockholm following a fire on the line near Upplands Väsby May 16; significant transportation disruptions expected

Officials ordered all rail services, including commuter and long-distance trains, to be suspended north of Stockholm at approximately 17:00 (local time) on Wednesday, May 16. Authorities ordered the stoppage after an electrical wire that was torn down started a fire at Upplands Väsby.  Emergency services were able to extinguish the fire but the wire needed to be repaired before operations could continue. Buses have been dispatched to replace trains between Häggvik and Märsta. According to local media reports, train service was expected to resume around 19:00 with residual delays expected.
