On Saturday, April 28, Ugandan security forces launched a raid on the Usafi Mosque in the Kisenyi area of Kampala. According to local sources, the operation was part of a manhunt for a kidnapping suspect. Two people were killed, and another wounded, during the raid. Police officers also reportedly arrested 36 people and seized weapons and ammunition.

A heightened security presence is possible in the Kisenyi area in the coming days. Protests against the operation may also occur.
