China/Hong Kong: Tropical Storm Ewiniar brings heavy rains to south June 6 /update 1

Tropical Storm Ewiniar has brought heavy rain to southern China as of Wednesday, June 6. Among the most affected areas are Hainan, where recorded rainfall totals were around 5-10 cm (2-4 in) across much of the island after the storm made landfall on Tuesday, June 5. The storm also made landfall on the Chinese mainland in Xuwen county (Guangdong province). Flooding was reported in Tai Po (Hong Kong) on Wednesday; further heavy rainfall is expected to affect Hong Kong and Macau in the coming hours. Consequent flooding is possible, particularly in low-lying areas. Associated widespread transportation disruptions are also expected in the coming hours.
