Heavy rain warning issued for the south and Jeju Island for June 28-29 amid monsoon

The South Korean meteorological authorities have issued heavy rain warnings for much of the south of the country, including Jeju Island, for Thursday, June 28, and Friday, June 29, amid the ongoing monsoon season. In Busan, over 9 cm (3 in) of rain is forecast. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also expected. Less intense rainfall is also possible in the capital Seoul and in central regions. Weather conditions are expected to improve beginning on Saturday, June 30.

Monsoon season in South Korea typically starts at the end of June and lasts through July/August.

Advice

Individuals in affected areas are advised to follow all instructions as issued by local authorities. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
