Several unions representing secondary school teachers and university staff have called for a 48-hour strike to take place on Tuesday, June 5, and Wednesday, June 6. Striking workers will rally in the capital Montevideo on Tuesday morning beginning at 10:00 (local time) at the Torre Ejecutiva, the presidential office located at Plaza Independencia. The gathering will likely remain peaceful, but low-intensity violence (minor clashes, vandalism, etc.) cannot be ruled out. Localized traffic disruptions are also possible.
