Residents living along the Grande de Térraba river in Puntarenas province are holding a protest on Monday, August 6, to demand action amid the constant threat of riverside flooding. They will march along the Inter American highway beginning at 06:00 (local time), which is expected to cause traffic disruptions.

The threat of flooding is due to problems regarding a dyke on the river, which is in need of construction work to make it higher. Some 16,000 families in the area are at risk.
