High winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding are forecast for portions of Western Cape province on Sunday, July 1, persisting into Monday, July 2. According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), there is a significant risk of urban flooding in West Coast District, Cape Town, Cape Winelands, and western parts of Overberg on Sunday. Winds of 70 km/h (43.5 mph) are also expected between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas. A weather watch due to forecast disruptive snowfall was also issued for southern Namakwa, the West Coast District, and Cape Winelands for Sunday and Monday.Traffic disruptions (flooded or damaged roads) and power outages related to the hazardous weather conditions are possible.

The Cape region often experiences heavy rains and associated floods and landslides during the southern hemisphere winter (June to August).

Individuals present in Western Cape province, including in Cape Town, are advised to keep abreast of the situation (monitor local news and reliable weather reporting outlets) and adhere to any orders issued by the local authorities or their home governments. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
