A low-intensity explosive device was thrown against a CAI police station (Comando de Acción Inmediata) in the eastern Cali neighborhood of Mojica on Tuesday, August 7. The incident, which took place around 11:30 (local time), caused a panic but no casualties or significant damage has been reported. It remains unclear who was responsible for the attack.

Context

Various armed groups are active in Colombia, including ex-FARC dissidents (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia), the ELN guerrilla group (Ejército de Liberación Nacional), various organized crime groups (BACRIM), and numerous local gangs.

Advice

Due to the presence of these groups, some Western governments advise against travel to various regions of the country, including areas to the west of Cali.
