France: Trappes attacker neutralized August 23 /update 1
Stabbing attack in Trappes (southwestern Paris region) morning of August 23; police neutralize attacker; continue to avoid the area
Event
A stabbing attack took place beginning at around 09:30 (local time) on Thursday, August 23, on a street in the town of Trappes, located some 25 km (15 mi) west-southwest of Paris. The lone assailant killed one person and injured two others before entrenching himself in a pavilion on Camille Claudel Street. He was eventually shot by police. Police are asking individuals in the area to continue to avoid the site.
The attacker was reportedly on a terrorist watch list although police have not yet ruled the incident a terrorist act.
