France: Farmers stage go-slow convoy and plan protest in Strasbourg, Nov. 26-28

Farmers stage go-slow convoy in Strasbourg, France, and plan protest at the European Parliament, Nov. 26-28. Traffic disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized farmers are staging go-slow convoys with agricultural vehicles in Strasbourg on Nov. 26. France's largest agricultural workers' union, FNSEA, is denouncing the proposed Mercosur trade agreement between the EU and South American countries. The FNSEA's "Young Farmers" association plans to maintain the protest until Nov. 28. Further farmers' protests are likely across France in the coming days.

Local authorities will likely deploy additional police officers to mitigate traffic disruptions. The convoy operation will probably prompt significant congestion in the city center. Roadblocks and heightened security may prompt business disruptions, for example delivery vehicles may not be able access city center locations. The event will likely pass off peacefully.

Expect significant disruptions in Strasbourg Nov. 26-28. Allow extra time for travel, and reconfirm all business appointments with the European Parliament while the planned demonstration is taking place. Heed the instructions of local police.
