Germany: Rail disruptions August 10-12 following Storm Nadine /update 1

Rail disruptions to be anticipated through August 12 in northern Germany following August 9 passage of Storm Nadine

Storm Nadine hit northern Germany late on Thursday, August 9 (local time). Orange wind alerts issued by the German weather service DWD remain in place in various areas, notably along the North Sea coast; lower yellow alerts are in effect in other northern areas, including the cities of Berlin and Hamburg. The national rail operator Deutsche Bahn has warned of significant rail disruptions due to blocked rails. A number of high-speed, international, and regional lines have been closed, with disruptions expected to continue on some lines through Sunday, August 12. Road closures are also possible in affected areas. Significant flight disruptions were reported August 9 but operations have stabilized as of Friday morning.
