Malaysia: Baggage allowance reduced on domestic flights

Beginning August 1, Malaysia Airlines has reduced its baggage allowance for domestic flights, from 30 kg (66 lb) to 20 kg (44 lb). This is 10 kg (22 lb) less than its international luggage allowance. According to airline management, the higher international baggage allowance will apply to passengers transferring from an international to a domestic flight, even if travel was carried out on separate tickets.

Context

According to the airline, the move was carried out to allow the airline to become more competitive within the domestic market following an increase in fuel prices.
