Mexico: Increased theft rates in Mexico City in 2018

According to government data published on August 8, Mexico City saw an increase in theft in the first six months of 2018. Theft overall increased by over 15 percent from 2017, led by a 50 percent increase in cell phone theft and an 18 percent increase in home burglaries. On average, the data indicates that 248 crimes are reported daily in Mexico City.
