Heavy rain and heatwave continue in southern and coastal areas; over 10 cm (4 in) of rain expected in the south August 16

South Korea has experienced heavy rain since Wednesday, August 15, notably the eastern coastal areas of Gangwon province and the southern coastal areas of Jeolla province. Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungcheong provinces have also received significant precipitation levels. Over 10 cm (4 in) of rain is expected August 16 in southern coastal areas of Gyeongsang province and on Jeju Island

Meanwhile, heatwave advisories have been issued for the southern coastal areas and Gyeongsang province, as well as along the eastern coast. Daytime highs will reach 34°C (93F) in Seoul and Incheon, 33°C (93°F) in Daegu, and 30°C (93°F) in Busan.
