California fire officials lift all remaining evacuation orders for the Carr Fire near Redding, CA on August 15; firefighting efforts continue

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) lifted all remaining evacuation orders related to the so-called Carr Fire near Redding (California) at 14:30 (local time) on Wednesday, August 15. Public lands managed by the federal government will remain closed pending further investigation of possible hazards. CalFire urged residents to remain vigilant for possible future evacuation notices. Context
The fire started on July 23 due to a spark from a vehicle near the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Eight people, including three firefighters, have died from the blaze, which has burned 86,815 hectares (214,527 acres) and destroyed over 1000 homes. Wildfires are common in California from May through November.
