Venezuela: Flooding amid intense rain in various states
Táchira, Apure, Delta Amacuro, Guárico, Bolívar, and Amazonas states on red alert due to intense rains and flooding
Event
There is a high risk of flooding along the Orinoco River, notably in the city of Ciudad Bolívar, where the military is building a holding wall to prevent the river from bursting its banks. Furthermore, significant damages have been reported elsewhere in recent weeks due to floods caused by intense rain. As of August 15, a total of six states were on red alert: Táchira, Apure, Delta Amacuro, Guárico, Bolívar, and Amazonas.
Advice
Individuals in the above areas are advised to keep abreast of the
situation, follow local weather reports and any instructions issued by
the local authorities, and avoid flood-prone areas until the situation
stabilizes.
