Heavy rain and subsequent severe flooding affecting the capital N’Djamena over the past month; one person killed and material damage reported

Heavy rain has hit the capital N'djamena over the past month, causing severe flooding in the capital N'Djamena, especially in districts located near the banks of the Chari and Logone rivers. One person has reportedly been killed and infrastructural damage has been reported. Further damage is likely as more heavy rain is forecast in the coming days.
Context
Flooding is common in many areas of the country, particularly in the south and the east, during the rainy season (July to October).

Individuals present in affected areas in N'Djamena are advised to follow all instructions issued by local authorities (e.g. possible evacuation orders), allow additional time to travel, and monitor the situation via local media and weather reporting outlets. Please be advised that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
